Tear Open Boxes

Tear-open boxes give customers an easy way to open a package because it has a perforated panel, edge, or flap that is built into the box structure rather than scissors or knives to break the seal. The tear seal is placed into the board itself during manufacturing, so every box opens the same way for all customers.

You can choose these boxes in thick or thin corrugated cardboard. You can put the tear line along one edge, across an entire top section, or on a flap that closes again. These boxes work well for store products, monthly box subscriptions, and mailers. The tear lines are tough in transit, but easy to tear open when pulled.

Order in wholesale bulk and tell us the cardboard type, tear line position, and box size. We will help you with all types of tear strip packaging solutions.

Description

Tear-Open Boxes Give You Liberty to Open

When you give someone a closed box, they need something to open it, like keys, a knife, or fingernails. The perforation is placed right into the design where everyone can see it. So the first interaction that the customer has with the custom tear-open boxes is clean: pull the tab to open the package instead of looking for a box opening spot.

Where Can the Tear Line Be Placed?

Where you place the tear line depends on what you want the box to do after someone opens it.

Edge Tear

An edge tear puts the cut line along one side of the box, like a box of cereal. You pull the tab, and the top lid opens while the rest of the box stays together.

Panel Tear

A panel tear removes a whole side of the box instead of just a thin strip. This option works well when a box needs to turn into a display stand on a store shelf.

Flap Tear

Flap custom tear open boxes create an opening that closes again instead of removing the lid permanently. This design works for boxes that people open and shut many times, like monthly gift boxes with built-in lids or retail boxes that double as home storage.

Perforation Depth Is the Whole Engineering

We make the tear lines perfectly, because if the tear lines on a box are too shallow, the tear lines will not rip straight. You cannot open the box with your hands, or the cardboard tears into the middle of the box instead. If cuts are too deep, the box can break during shipment and arrive damaged.

The depth of the cuts depends on the cardboard thickness. Thick double-layer cardboard needs deeper, larger cuts than thin paperboard. Workers adjust the cutting tools for each type of cardboard instead of using the same cut on every box.

Get Printing Off the Tear Line

We print your artwork to leave space around the custom printed tear-open box, and you can keep all important words and logos away from this area.

You can also ask for graphics near a perforation or a printed pull-tab, like an arrow, a colorful tab, or a brief note. This mark shows the buyer where to start, so they do not have to guess how to open the package.

Extra Strength for Heavy Items

Heavy or loose items push against a box tear strip more than light items do. An extra paper layer behind the tear strip helps prevent it from breaking early under heavy weight. However, the box still opens smoothly when a customer pulls the strip.

TheProductBoxes is your shopping mania under one roof for all types of packaging, and you can select any, like tear-off packaging solutions, tear strip envelopes, or custom boxes.
